The “Hour of Acceptance” on Friday

The “Hour of Acceptance” on Friday

Time:
The Prophet ﷺ said that on Friday there is a special hour in which supplications are certainly accepted. Many scholars hold that this time is between ‘Asr (afternoon prayer) and Maghrib (sunset).

Clarification:
This hour is very brief, so one is encouraged to keep engaged in du‘a during that period, especially as the sun sets.

Other Moments When Du‘a Is Accepted

At the call to prayer (Adhān):
When the mu’adhdhin (caller to prayer) calls the Adhān, the gates of the heavens are opened and prayers are accepted.

During acts of worship:
When a servant stands in prayer and asks Allah for something, Allah promises to respond and grant it according to His wisdom.

Other Virtuous Deeds on Friday

Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ:
Reciting abundant salawat (durud) on Friday and its night carries special merit. The Prophet ﷺ gave glad tidings that the one who sends frequent blessings upon him on this day will receive his intercession on the Day of Judgment.
