Friday – A Day of Mercy, Light, and Forgiveness”

Blessed Friday is a day full of virtues and blessings. Its greatest distinction is the obligation of the Friday prayer (Salat al-Jumu’ah). Besides that, there is a special hour in which supplications are accepted, taking a bath (ghusl) and applying fragrance is Sunnah, sending abundant blessings (salawat) upon the Prophet ﷺ is emphasized, and reciting Surah Al-Kahf brings light and protection.

Virtues of Friday:

Leader of Days:
Friday is the best of all days and considered a festival (Eid) for Muslims.

Creation of Adam (A.S.):
On this day, Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was created, his repentance was accepted, and he also passed away.

Day of Resurrection:
The Day of Judgment will take place on a Friday.


Blessings of Friday (Deeds & Virtues):

Acceptance of Du‘a:
There is a specific hour on Friday when prayers are surely answered.

Forgiveness of Sins:
Whoever performs ghusl, applies fragrance, arrives at the mosque on time, listens to the sermon attentively, and remains silent — his sins from the previous Friday to the current Friday are forgiven.

Sending Salawat (Blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ):
Sending abundant salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday carries great virtue and will be a means of intercession on the Day of Judgment.

Recitation of Surah Al-Kahf:
The one who recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have light until the next Friday and be protected from trials.

Charity and Good Deeds:
Giving charity or zakat on Friday holds greater virtue compared to other days.

Purity and Cleanliness:
Taking a bath, keeping clean, and performing ablution (wudu) on Friday is highly emphasized and rewarded.


Importance of these Virtues:

Friday is a great blessing for the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Spending this day in righteous deeds and observing its etiquettes brings Allah’s mercy and countless blessings.
